When I was a new Christian, I ran into a peculiar group called The International Church of Christ (ICOC). They also go by many other names, such as “The Boston Church of Christ,” “The International Christian Church,” “Campus Advance,” “Disciples,” and other names as well.
The ICOC is a dangerous cult that hurts people. They particularly tend to target college students, but that’s not always the case.
As Christians, we ought to know how to answer the ICOC Biblically.
In early 1995, I conducted research into the ICOC’s history and doctrine, and wrote an essay.
That essay is 24 years old as of this writing, but I recently updated it and posted it online for free.
The essay pays particular attention to the false doctrine called “Baptismal Regeneration.” This is the teaching that water baptism is necessary for salvation, and water baptism is only effective if performed by the International Church of Christ. Many people are hurt and spiritually manipulated by this teaching.
