I love love love love sharing Jesus at Universities. It’s a tremendous mission field, where God sends our way students from all walks of life, and from all over the world!
We had a fruitful Spring, focusing on The University of Massachusetts, and The University of New Hampshire.
I previously wrote about the one-day “Evangelistic DVD Blitz” where we gave away 600 Evangelistic DVDs! To see that post, feel free to check it out at: http://luke-15.org/2016/04/40-christians-reach-1500-lost-students-in-2-hours/.
Other than reaching unsaved Students, University ministry is a blessing because we run into Christian students, some of which have never seen effective Open Air Ministry. I hope and pray that God uses us to embolden Christian students to share the gospel with strangers.
In the photos and descriptions below, I make reference to “The Good Person Test.” This is a tool that I’ve found to be very very effective in getting students to think about eternal things.
Please feel free to click on the graphic below to download a copy of “The Good Person Test.” Please print it out and use it in your own personal evangelism. And if you want it as a Microsoft Word document, so you can edit it and add your own contact information, just let me know and I’ll get it to you.
You can always find the latest version of “The Good Person Test” at: http://luke-15.org/good-person-test.pdf.
I’ll let the following photos explain what has happened on campus recently.
Please pray for us and those we meet!

In addition to the people in the photos, some other people who stood out are:
-
Brian: Brian is a skeptical student who asked us lots of questions. I believe we gave him answers, but each answer just prompted him to hit us with more questions. Please pray that God reaches Brian.
-
Chia and Shannon: Chia is a young lady from a Buddhist background, and Shannon said she was completely non-religious. They both listened to the gospel message, and were very friendly.
-
Thomas: Thomas is a Roman Catholic student who sadly kept repeating his belief that he’s a good enough person to get to Heaven on his own.
-
Zach: Zach is a friendly Greek Orthodox student who spoke with Eric for a while. He kept telling Eric that he was all set to go to Heaven because of the good things he does. Eric asked him, “If you’re going to go to Heaven because of what you do, then who are you ultimately trusting in?” Eric wanted Zach to see that he’s trusting in himself, not Jesus. Eric even said, “If you’re good enough on your own, then why did Jesus die on the cross?”
-
Michael: Michael was quick to tell us that he has taught “CCD” (Roman Catholic Sunday School) for years, yet he didn’t know how to be forgiven. Sadly, this isn’t all that uncommon. Please pray for Michael.
-
Andrew: Andrew is extremely open to the gospel message. He told me that he “really wants to know the truth about God.” But then he told me why. Andrew has a girlfriend who he said was “very religious” so he wants to, quote, “figure things out.” I know he heard the simple truth of the gospel, and I pray that both he and his girlfriend will know Jesus as Savior.
-
Erica: Erica was another “Sunday School Teacher” who didn’t know the gospel. She said she taught Sunday School for 5 years, but admitted to being an Agnostic, and thought she was good enough to go to Heaven on her own.
-
Yikau: Yikau is an International Student from China. His English wasn’t superb, and he appreciated that I gave him a gospel tract in Chinese. After explaining the gospel message to him, he told me that a Christian organization on campus, Cru, was very nice to him and that he had attended some of their events. I think it’s terrific that God would send Yikau our way to hear the gospel, and also send him to Cru to hear the gospel! 🙂
-
Cam: This is cool! Cam approached us to listen to the gospel message. He said he believes everything we said! It turns out that he recently became a Christian! I asked him what church he attends, and it’s a church I have preached at, and I know the Pastor! Cam said he’s getting baptized shortly. Very cool!
-
Mike: Mike is a student who identified himself as “Protestant.” When I asked him about his faith and where he believes he’s going when he dies, he told me that he didn’t know it was possible to know for sure that you can have eternal life. I shared 1 John 5:13 with him. “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). Mike thought you had to be good enough to go to Heaven, and even then, you can’t be sure. I had the privilege to share with him that when we repent and believe, we become (presently) a child of God forever.
-
Tim: Tim came right over to Chris and started giving him a hard time. He was loud, and argumentative. He asked a lot of questions that are very common and easy to answer. Chris did a great job answering Tim’s questions, but then he’d ask another. It didn’t appear to us that Tim was really interested in coming to a knowlege of the truth, but rather just wanted to argue. That’s one of the saddest things about evangelism – when you see someone so hardened against the Lord. But I was very hardened against the Lord, and He still reached out and saved me! If Jesus can save me, He can save anyone, even someone like Tim. Oh, and it turns out that Tim is into studying satanic literature and practices, so there’s definitely a spiritual battle going on there. Please pray for Tim. Thanks!
-
Cameron: Cameron is a student with New Age beliefs. Chris got to share with him his testimony on how Jesus saved him out of the New Age! Cameron was interested enough to take an evangelistic DVD from us and allowed Chris to take him through “The Good Person Test.”
-
Brian: Brian is a Roman Catholic student who thought that you had to be good to earn Heaven. After taking “The Good Person Test” and listening to the gospel of grace, he said, “I’m not sure what to believe.” He did take our evangelistic DVD, so I pray that God will water the seeds planted in Brian’s heart.
As you can see, God uses University Ministry to reach a lot of people who might not otherwise hear the truth about Jesus. I’m sad that it’s over for the summer. But I look forward, Lord willing, to ministering at the Universities again in the Fall!!!
We love you and thank Jesus for you!
Thank you so much for your prayers, financial support, and notes of encouragement, without which we would not be able to reach the Lost for Jesus Christ!
Please contact us anytime and let us know how we can pray for you!
And please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would be blessed by it!
For Christ and His gospel,
Mark, Shelby, Vivienne, Juliana, Caleb, and Gabriella
