It was an unseasonably warm day this past Tuesday, so instead of sharing our faith in the subways, like we normally do in January, we went “outside” to downtown Boston! God gave us a GREAT afternoon of evangelism! Lots of people were out and in addition to handing out hundreds of gospel tracts, we got into some great conversations with people! 🙂
Here are a few of the people who stood out:
-
Two High-School Seniors: After I preached a paint-board message called “To Whom Do You Turn,” I met and spoke with Tiffany and her friend. They listened to the whole message and they were both troubled that they realized now that they’re “lost.” I’ve heard teenagers say “I’m lost” in a flippant way, but these two seemed very sincere. So I talked with them about their need for a Savior, and the ONLY TRUE SAVIOR is Jesus Christ! None of us can know what’s going on in another person’s heart, but these two both came across humble and contrite. Please pray they will keep their promise to think about what I shared with them, examine the literature I gave them, read The Gospel of John, and turn to Jesus.
-
Alex: Alex is a young man in his 20’s who listened to an open-air message. I approached him afterwards and he told me he has a Jewish background. He was abandoned by his parents and then his grandparents and was eventually adopted. Alex is living with lots of bitterness. I shared my testimony with him, because he and I share our Jewish heritage. And I shared with him how he could be forgiven and adopted into God’s family through faith in Christ. Alex “promised” that he’d email me. Please keep him in prayer.
-
Edwin: Edwin recognized Eric, one of the OAC Missionaries I was with, and came over to talk with him. It turns out that Edwin used to attend OAC Children’s Street Meetings years ago when he was a kid. Edwin is now 22 years old, and isn’t walking with Jesus as he knows he ought to be. Edwin and Eric chatted for a while and Edwin told Eric he will be attending a church that Eric recommended to him. Talk about a “Divine Appointment!”
-
Chris: Chris and I chatted after I gave my open-air message. He told me that he is a born-again Christian, and when he saw us across the street, he assumed we were some other religion, and prayed, “God, I know you want to stretch me to listen to viewpoints of others, so I’ll go over there and listen to them.” But when he listened to our message, he laughed because we were saying exactly what he believed. He was very encouraged by our message and told me he believed God set this up to encourage him and push him on to share his faith.
-
Judy: After listening to one of our messages, Judy took one of our booklets on how to be forgiven, and then got into a long conversation with Aaron. It turns out Judy is a Jehovah’s Witness. I find it quite remarkable that she took one of our booklets because the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, the official name for the organization that runs the Jehovah’s Witnesses, have a strict policy of not taking any religious literature from any group other than themselves. Aaron said Judy seemed reasonable and conceded that he had good points, another thing Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t often do. So please pray that God open’s Judy’s heart and she comes to know the true Jesus of the Bible, and not the made-up false Jesus of the Watchtower.
And there were many more as well! God gave us a superb day sharing our faith in downtown Boston. I pray that He will be pleased to water the many seeds planted!!!
