Vivienne’s Baptism – and I got to baptize her!!! :)

One of the greatest joys and honors I have ever had in this life was to baptize my own 12-year-old daughter, Vivienne. This happened on August 21, 2011.

Out of all the prayers I have for her, and all my children, the most important is that they will love and follow Jesus Christ!

So what an honor it was for me to not only witness my daughter make a public proclamation of her faith, but to stand beside her in the water!!! Baptism is such a beautiful symbol of death, burial, and resurrection! I thank God for Vivienne and I love her so very much!!!

I remember when I baptized John. It was such a blessing to me. This year James wants to be baptized. Praise the Lord as we see our children grow in the Lord.

So I finally had a minute to watch this!! Vivienne, I’ve never met you, but I was at your dad & mom’s wedding almost 13 years ago, and it was such a joy to be part of that day, also I rejoiced when they announced right away they had started a family!! And now you not only belong to the Sohmer family, but to God’s family, now that you are written into the Book of Life! Welcome to the family, “little sister.” I was baptized at the age of 13 myself, so your video brought me back many memories!! (But that day was not recorded for posterity..) I hope that the next time I’m in New Hampshire, I will have the pleasure of meeting you face to face.
